Shopping sustainably and ethically is not easy. Drop shippers, mass produced plastic and misleading ads makes it harder to distinguish the real “small businesses” from the ones trying to hop on the trend. Ben och sten is owned by and run by Tyra, a queer nerd in her twenties just trying to share her art and passion for the weird.

The shop is being worked on and will hopefully be up and running in coming months.

My focus is on making ethically sourced bone and teeth jewellery. No animals have died or been harmed to make any of my products.

Everything I sell has died without intent, which means humans have in some cases been involved. Roadkill is something that will happen as long as there are roads, and I just collect the aftermath.   

Other bones and teeth have been found in the forest, which makes it hard to know how and why they died.

Its very important to me that everything is found the right way. I think about what I do as a way to let the animals live on in a way, and meanwhile providing bone and teeth jewellery you can wear without the uncertainty or guilt that something may have been killed to make you your earrings.

The crystals I use are from credible sources who can prove that their mining and processing of the crystals are kind to the environment, their workforce and the land the crystals are being taken from.
